COUNSELLING

My Approach
My counselling approach is eclectic, as I am guided by your needs and who you are. Fundamentally I take a person-centred approach and draw on a variety of approaches that best suit the individual or couples needs. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative and Gestalt Therapies. I focus on practical strategies to bring about emotional regulation through the use of approaches that are the best fit for the individual or couple that is taking the great step toward bettering themselves.

About me
I am Laine Lewis (Driver), I work with adults, couples, young people and families mostly in the areas related to emotional self-regulation, anxiety management and relationships (couples/families). I offer tailored counselling focusing specifically on you and what works for you. I work with individuals who are feeling stuck and help them to move forward. I’m proudly person-centred, placing relationships and relatability at the forefront of my practice.
Relationship
Conflict resolution and mediation is an important part of emotional regulation for couples - regardless of if they decide to stay together or decide to go their separate ways. For couples that decide to separate it can be understandably tricky - especially with children involved. Nobody has a rule book for how to co-parent successfully... it looks different for every family, but to meet the emotional needs of yourself and your children learning how to parent whilst living apart is a crucial part of the separation process. Having a professional counsellor to help you communicate during these challenging times can be the difference between surviving and thriving.
I am trained in The Developmental Model, devised by Dr. Ellyn Bader and Dr. Peter Pearson. This model has stood the test of time and is based on three strands that pull together:
1. Differentiation theory 2. Attachment theory 3. Neuroscience Theory

Counselling
Womens
I love working with women, who often have their own unique challenges. Supporting women experiencing emotional and mental health, as well as, relationship issues. Big or small, addressing the impact is so important. I have worked with women understanding the many identity and role changes that we experience...as a mother, wife, daughter. I also work in a specialist role with women in the peri and menopausal part of life. Supporting women in a safe space as they personally transition through the later life challenges to self confidence, identity and the physical, as well as, psychological impacts of this stage of life.
